Opinion on Artificial Intelligence
If you're seeing this, this is a Draft. It's not completed. Some parts might not make sense.
Unless you have been sleeping under a rock, we all have seen the rise of Artificial Intelligence in recent times. It has had a brutal impact in our lives. Even if you do not use an AI chatbot, it is still there whether you see it or not.
Let me start by stating that AI makes our work easier, yes that is true. But tell me why do we need our work, our life, to be made easier. Who is benefiting of all of this? The answer is big corporations, who implement this technology, aiming in reduced costs by replacing humans and enhance productivity. I still can't find myself to be able to answer if we need this efficiency boost. Aren't our lives good as they are? I couldn't help but wonder, is all this development and desire of going forward actually making us go backwards?
Anyway, if there is something that we can't forget, is that we are all humans. We should enjoy what we do, our life is made of pain, we are constantly suffering, but that doesn't mean that we should look for what is convenient. We used to find joy on those small things, that now, we are replacing with AI. Obviously there is some tedious work where AI comes in handy. And there I agree its implementation and also on other areas such as medical research, data analysis. However, in what regards creativeness, AI should have no place. There is people out there who do enjoy their jobs that shouldn't be replaced just so a company can maximize their profits. For example, I have a passion for writing. I wouldn't find ethical if I was a writer and the mainstream newspaper where I work replaced me by AI. It may sound crazy but it is not as far from us as it seems. If it were about replacing those who rule these big corporations by machines, they would be out of their chairs ASAP, but why when it comes to replace those who, deeply, make the businesses work out, there is no room for consideration?
In the matter of personal use, I believe that there should be rigorous restrictions in order to heal the loss of critical thinking that it's momentarily causing.
I wonder - why are governments taking so long to take action and implement limitations? We are facing something that is just as contagious as covid. We need limitations ASAP. What is letting them back?
